About Rolling Film Festival

The Rolling Film Festival was founded in 2009 as a platform where cinema opens dialogue, challenges perceptions, and brings communities closer together. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most important cultural platforms in Kosovo dedicated to Roma storytelling and representation.

The festival showcases films by and about Roma communities from around the world, alongside locally produced works. Through carefully curated programs, it highlights the richness, diversity, and shared humanity of Roma stories—offering perspectives that are often underrepresented in mainstream cinema.

More than a festival, it is a meeting point: between filmmakers and audiences, local and international voices, and personal stories and collective realities.

History

Since its first edition in 2009, the Rolling Film Festival has steadily developed into a significant cultural platform in Kosovo and beyond. Over the years, it has screened more than 550 films, supported the emergence of young filmmakers, and created spaces for dialogue through workshops, discussions, and community engagement.

The festival’s growth reflects a long-term commitment to visibility, inclusion, and the power of storytelling. Through continuous collaboration with artists, cultural professionals, and partners across Europe, it has built a strong international network and established itself as a recognized reference point for Roma cinema and cultural exchange.

What began as a local initiative has evolved into an international platform that contributes to a broader cultural movement—placing Roma stories at the center of public discourse and fostering meaningful connections between communities.

Mission & Vision

The Rolling Film Festival promotes Roma culture and identity through cinema and storytelling. By presenting authentic narratives from Roma filmmakers and communities, it challenges stereotypes, fosters intercultural dialogue, and creates space for reflection, inclusion, and shared understanding.

The festival envisions a society where Roma voices are visible, valued, and fully represented in cultural and public life. It sees film as a tool for connection, education, and social transformation—building bridges between communities and contributing to a more inclusive future.

A filmmaker at heart, Sami moves between directing, producing, and writing, building stories that live between the personal and the collective. Since his first film in 2003, his work has travelled internationally, but always remains rooted in lived experience. Through the Rolling Film Festival, he continues to open space for Roma voices—on screen and beyond it.

Team

Rina works at the intersection of culture, education, and image-making. As a photographer and cultural worker, she is drawn to stories of people, place, and environment. Within the festival, she shapes the program with care—thinking not only about what is shown, but how audiences connect to it.

Rina Gosalci - Program Manager

Faton is the quiet engine behind the festival. From moving people to moving equipment, from schedules to last-minute fixes—he keeps everything in motion. His work is often invisible, but essential: making sure that each screening, each guest, each moment happens as it should.

Faton Mustafa - Logistics Coordinator

Adrian gives the festival its visual voice. For the third edition in a row, through design, he translates ideas into images—posters, layouts, and identities that carry the feeling of each edition. His work shapes how the festival is seen before it is even experienced.

Adrian Sheremeti - Design & Visuals

Nderim keeps the structure solid behind the scenes. With a background in accounting and a sharp eye for detail, he ensures that everything adds up—budgets, reporting, and compliance. His work allows the festival to stay grounded and sustainable, supporting the creative vision with clarity and control.

Nderim Basha - Finance Manager

The Rolling Film Festival is carried by a small but deeply committed team—people who believe in cinema as a way to remember, to question, and to bring voices closer to each other. Together, they shape a space where stories are not only screened, but felt, shared, and discussed.
