UNFRAMED - Critical Filmand Image Hub comes to Rolling
The Critical Film & Image Hub at Heidelberg University is an interdisciplinary platform that
brings together researchers, filmmakers, and writers working at the intersection of film, visual culture, and the social sciences. The hub focuses on critical approaches to image-making and storytelling, exploring how film and visual media can be used to reflect on social, political, and cultural issues, while fostering dialogue between academic research and artistic practice. Through collaborative projects, workshops, screenings, and publications, the hub supports innovative methodologies and critical inquiry into visual representation. It creates a space for exchange between scholars and practitioners, encouraging new forms of knowledge production and engagement with contemporary challenges through film and media.
This collaboration marks the first partnership with Rolling, where a selection of the hub’s articles has been curated, designed into a magazine, and printed. Many of the films discussed have been or are being screened at Rolling, and the critical insights offered in these texts contribute to strengthening visibility by presenting Roma perspectives in a direct and authentic way.
