Rolling Film Festival
 
 
On October 19th, 20th and 21st October 2009, Balkan Sunflowers Kosova and Romawood Productions will host Rolling Film Festival in the ABC Cinema, Prishtina. Rolling Film Festival will feature more than 20 films made by and about Roma worldwide. It will be the first of its kind in Kosova, focusing on the life, culture, and history as well as the rights and integration of Roma in Kosova and globally. During each of the three festival days, there will be a special school program for high school students from 9:00 to 13:30. The public program of films and discussions will run from 13:45 till 23.30 each day (including the first day). Selected documentaries and feature films will be followed by discussions between international and Kosovar filmmakers, civil society representatives, academics, artists and audience. Through these discussions, Rolling Film Festival will contribute to improved communication and  understanding.
Screenings are free of charge and the public  is encouraged to take part in the discussions and debates.

Kaça bar (outback), near Tiffany's restaurant !
The band Besh O Drom from Hungaria will come to perform on the 22nd of otober, at 21:30 Kaça bar (outback), near Tiffany's restaurant . The band takes inspiration from folk music e.g. Eastern European, the Balkan peninsula, topping it with Roma and Klezmer music.
 
The Opening Ceremony
The Film Festival’s Opening Ceremony unrolled before a full cinema hall on the evening of Monday 19th October. People from all over Kosovo attended the informal and cosy program of presentations and performances delivered by Sami and Lara (the organizers), Driton and Sebastian (Roma musicians), the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Mr. Valton Beqiri, and a youth theatre group from Plemetina. Thank you to all the audience and participants who made the evening one to remember !

The Festival will « Rom and Roll » for the next two days.. Check out the program and visit the ABC Cinema for more news and the chance to see more great films. On Tuesday 20th in evening, film makers Antonia Mezsaros (Hungary) and Laura Halilovic (Italy) will be present to discuss their films with the public. See you there!
 
School program
The first two sessions of the Rolling film school program were held on the 19th and were very well-attended! Over two hundred students from Prishtina high schools (H.K.Prishtina, Gjen Gazuli) participated in an educational program led by Global Motion, a local NGO. The students watched four short films and took part in an interactive discussion about diversity
